In search of a new beginning
Dates: Jan 25, 2016 until it's time to stop
Starting at T-7 herein lies my old life in tatters and a new life begun.
House closing

The buyers and their realtor remained true to form. Awful. We're out.
Stuck in the lap of luxury
Fort Lauderdale, FL, Tuesday, January 26, 2016
Moving is HARD. I'm not going to say anything more about that. Nope, that's it. I'm finished talking about how hard moving is. (But I hope you get that I'm talking about so many levels of hard.) But ... nope ... I say no more.
Our camper has a big problem and is under repair at the dealership . This came on unexpectedly and ruined my carefully planned exit from South Florida. We closed on the house yesterday and we are officially "homeless" and yet unable to move into the camper. Luckily for us, we have a good friend who stepped up and opened her fantastic childhood home to this motley crew of dogs and detritus. Her house is for sale and rapidly emptying out —until we showed up with my big truck full of JUNK. We are trying to be unobtrusive and keep the place show-ready but - well, we are a motley crew.
Meanwhile, our suffering has us just off of Bayside Drive in the best area of 'old Ft. Lauderdale' with a range of fabulous amenities close at hand. There has been worse suffering in the world, I feel certain. The dogs are in heaven with a large back yard and Baloo has a personal water bowl (which is how he views what we call swimming pools) which is large and welcoming. I don't think the dogs are at all unhappy that Rhiannon and I are sleeping near each other and near the floor where they can alternately curl up with both of us throughout the night.
We will try to "pay back" by helping with the move that is going on here ... so yeah, on the one hand it has us still moving stuff ... but on the other hand we do have the big truck and Rhiannon lifts weights. :) Seriously if it had not been for this lovely offer, we would have been dealing with a lot more complications and expense with a lot less comfort and adventure. Being here even for such a short time sure makes you appreciate why people who always say that they would only ever "live east" feel that way about it. (Our home was in the western suburbs of the east coast.)
Not going to be much to report on a daily basis for a while - we are well and truly stalled. But the "trip" officially began when the house closed yesterday, so ... off we go.
Top row: Last Days of Kensington. Bottom row: Last walk on a well-used sidewalk, then three pictures of Laura’s house where we camped for nearly two weeks.
