Bike Borneo-Friday
Friday.
I signed up for this because it sounded fun - and no regrets. Did turn out to be hard, but that’s no reflection on them. I hadn’t been on a bike for awhile so my backside was very sore by the time we stopped for lunch after about 10 miles only, but through ups and downs and mud paths. Still a great day. Great story and a really enjoyable day out in the country with lunch in a small village. The guy in the yellow shirt was my guide and the owner. He speaks great English and was friendly and very patient when I could NOT make it up a hill and got off to walk. The other guy drove the truck, brought us drinks, was there in case I fell apart. I didn’t fall apart but it got so hot and muggy that I did slow down to the point of a crawl by the end. Still enjoyed it. Even more I enjoyed the surprise at lunch, chatting with both of them. The guy serving as our driver - I only know him as “Flo,” is the national mountain biking champion. I was thinking, heck I should be driving the truck for him!
Lunch was a local favorite, homemade, but I didn’t take a picture. Probably because I inhaled it. A curry sauce with rice noodles. Well, that describes practically everything I eat here, but this one was particularly yummy.
