Finally, Bali
Arrived on Friday evening, long drive from Depansar (the city where the airport is) to Ubud (the biggest city in Bali) with Jan’s driver Wox.
First thing Saturday morning I hit the beautiful pool right outside our door. Then we drove around Ubud to do some business and have a nice lunch and I got a good overview of the city. All the way until dinner at the Italian place (last picture in this gallery, me with my Aperol Spritzer) and the walk home on what later became a familiar street, in the dark.
That beautiful infinity pool over the jungle is at one of Jan’s vendors homestay places (bottom row, left-most.) Yeah, I could see staying there in the future. Near that picture you can also see an example of a “jungle swing” which have become quite popular and on which I had no desire to swing. A mosaic pony. Honestly I didn’t take enough pictures of the stone, wood and mosaic statues on offer. I toyed with the idea of buying a whole shipping container of beautiful things to put in my yard. :)
Sunday, Dec 11 on our way to the mountains to see the Botanic Gardens we stopped off at this temple. You always have to wear a skirt (and have your shoulders covered.) Our hotel provides a nice skirt and sash that we carried with us, you can see Jan wearing hers in the first picture.
Still Sunday, still making our way to the Botanic Gardens, we stopped off at the chocolate factory.
Finally to our main objective, the botanic garden up in the mountains where it was much cooler.
Last, we stopped at a “health food restaurant,” bottom row.
