Four nights in Maui
Two at the elegant (and overpriced) Outrigger Ka’anapali. We snorkeled at the beach, saw a turtle, visited all the restaurants including one at the Whaler Village next door.
We had a rental car so we could drive the Road to Hana. We purchased the Gypsy Guide and in Paul’s words, it was “terrific.” It really does a good job of fitting the commentary to where you are. We had a stellar (if complicated) day of driving and so many waterfalls I lost count. Then we stayed over night at the Hana Maui Hyatt — really the only resort in Hana. It was peaceful and lovely. We ate at “The Ranch,” I took yoga class and swam at the infinity pool. Then we drove back, stopping at a few places we missed on the way out. Purchased some Golden Pineapple, only available on Maui and reputed to be good. Reputation well earned.
Then a last night on the Ka’anapali side, this time in Napili Bay. The place was fine, full kitchen so I could eat food I had purchased at the grocery and on the road. Up the next morning and off to the airport.
