Day 1-The Slog

When you are trying to make sure to use the free flights for the big part, you end up with some waiting around the edges.  7:15a drive away from the house for 9:00a flight. 5 hour layover in Newark. 8 hour flight to Rome. Ended up being a 4 hour layover in Rome due to delayed flight. 1 hour flight to Venice. .

Just got this conference-junk back pack from friend Chuck. Not junk at all!  Perfect size for this trip (my big backpack sometimes inspires certain airlines to make me check my roll-aboard. So needed a smaller backpack. Perfect pack, perfect timing!)

The ferry from the airport to Murano is pretty, lit with blue lights. So this is what my selfie looked like from onboard.

Jan met me at he dock and we walked to find some dinner. My flight was late so we were lucky to get a late night vegan pizza. The "streets" of Murano at night are beautiful and quiet. Except for a few drunks. :)
