Fried-day

Got out the door pretty close to schedule.

Ready to roll.

Got to the campground at about 3:30p. I had hoped for an immediate reprieve from the heat, here in Cottonwood, but alas it was not to be. I mean, it is a bit cooler - I think it was 114F at the house and only about 107F here. The hyper fit yoga lady who checked me in at the campground (and honestly I've seen lots of hyper fit yoga ladies and I've been checked into campgrounds by lots of campground ladies but never has the same woman fit both of those descriptions--Sedona, man) says she's lived here her whole (long) live and never seen it this hot.

Progress, not perfection

Not only did I need to back into the site, but the road to pull forward is short, against a hillside, the spot itself is short and drops off sharply into a canyon. It's a pretty canyon with a creek and all, but it is quite a drop off. Who me? Nervous backing up? Jumping out of the truck twelve times to check how far back I am? Naw. I mean, well, yeah. I struggled with the placement and angle a bit but honestly it didn't take me more than five minutes to get close enough to call it. I just wanted to plug in the power and turn the a/c on! I decided not to be a perfectionist about it.

It took me awhile to figure out setting up, since it is the first tie and I have so much extra stuff with all the baby stuff and crates for Rhiannon. Then I took a rest in the cooling camper for a bit. It took 3 hours to get comfortable, but it did get there. And it has stayed there since I've had it on 'auto lo cool' ever since. I'm pleased (knock wood.)

What you didn't come here to hear about my trailer? I do get fascinated with my own minutiae, don't I? After a bit of a stretch out and rest (and check email, etc.) the pups and I went exploring around the park and up the creek. A bunch of people just have their camp chairs set up in the creek and that looks pretty smart to me. Took a few pics of the campground and here they are.

Not sure the purpose of this little space.

The creek from up close
Yep, Sassy is trying to keep up.
