Friends and lakes
According to my plan, I laced up my boots, loaded up on water and bear spray, then went to one of the most popular trail heads.
Sure enough, it was like the line for Space Mountain. This would normally make me cringe and move on, but this is what I wanted, right? So I fell in line and enjoyed the woodsy, over-trafficked route beside a rapid creek.
At the intersection where you could turn right and climb to a higher lake, everyone else took the left. I waited a bit. No one wanted to head higher. So I took the left branch and emerged at the lakeside. Played around for a bit, took some pictures.
Asked every person who showed up at this beach if they were headed further to Bradley Lake. Not one person had any intention of doing so. I hiked a 1/2 mile back to that intersection and waited there. Finally a couple came along that were interested. They hadn’t planned on going, but they were willing. Off we went!
We spent the rest of the day together, exploring, taking pictures, hiking a loop that I had devised and that was a bit longer than their usual but they didn’t complain. Even when complaining about being tired at the end, they said they were very glad they had done it.
