Alex is how old?

This has been a family-filled trip, thus far. That part is coming to an end, but it started with the birth of my first grandchild, the third wedding of my other daughter, the whole family for Christmas, a silly birthday party for my son and finally a visit with the step-kids. The day after Christmas we celebrated Alex’s birthday a couple of days early with cherry pie (after much debate about pie v. cake and whether cobbler counts as pie or is a bottom crust required? And don’t get me started on turnovers!) We played a few rousing rounds of Mad Libs—we used to play it in the car when the kids were little. It is still funny.

Finally all the festivities were at an end. Adrienne and Zane rolled toward Los Angeles and later I dropped Alex at the airport. He’ll spend his actual birthday with friends, also in Los Angeles.

Once everyone was gone, I took the extra day to get reorganized for travel and finally rolled away myself.
