The one to beat

I thoroughly enjoyed the misty overcast weather at this peaceful location. Saturday morning the sunshine on the river was even more spectacular. The view out my window (first picture)

Judy invited me to go kayaking with her - that’s her in the second picture. It was a hard paddle upriver for a bit, then we drifted with the current on the other side of the river to spot anhinga, cormorant and turtles. We didn’t see the alligator in the daylight. We did see him the night before with Judy’s spotlight on his red glowing eyes.

After a break for dinner and for another boondocker family to arrive, we all gathered by the fire pit for a lovely evening and conversation — the kids roasted marshmallows.

It is hard to imagine another BW site that could come close to this experience.

Sunday morning I reluctantly rolled up the road. Got settled at the lavender farm and was planning to unhitch to go hang out with Juliene and MarriHelen when the tornado watch came in. I’m a little scared, but hunkering down. Will see those friends tomorrow.
