Temple of Literature

We had checked out of our hotel to go on the Ha Long Bay cruise, but since part of the deal with the cruise is they will take you back where you came from, we asked the hotel to hold our bags while we wandered about Hanoi for a bit more before needing to leave for our flight. They smiled and joked with us, locked up our bags, called an airport car and wished us well on our way. That hotel was great, I can’t imagine one that could have been better.

The Temple of Literature in Hanoi honors teachers and education. I hoped there would be a library, even though I’m sure it would have been inexplicable (to me) writing. But there weren’t any books. Just a history lesson in how the monks there were educated.

Caught our late afternoon flight and it was goodbye to Vietnam, for realz.
