Happy Hippies and Hay

So I’m into alliteration in my post titles. Live with it.

I’m at a Boondockers Welcome site - my hostess, Kathleen, is a creative writing teacher in all the eclectic ways you might expect. Feather earrings and long sweaters, untainted gray hair. So much art on the walls, painted or gifted by friends. Her site allows a 3 day stay but I’m sure she’d allow a longer stay—and so close to the I-10 she can surely count on seeing me again. While I’ve been here for my three nights, I’ve had her eleven acres to myself, no need to leash the dogs. She’s been busy and I had some things to do, but last night she invited me to sit on her deck beneath a glowing moon and a heaven full of stars and nibble at olives and cheese and crackers and hummus. We talked about our writing — she has written non-fiction about Texas musicians and even went to the Cannes film festival as part of that!

When I went into Kerrville to get my three fuels (diesel for the truck, gas for the generator and propane) the dogs and I took a walk on the “River Trail,” which is an urban (such as it is) park trail along the Guadalupe River through town. (Notice the deer crossing the trail.)

As always, I spend lots of time in my corner with my computer—and I like to show you the views out my window. It’s 7:30 and sunrise has finished enough to leave a warm glow over the cool morning. Here’s the view out the window, below that a gallery of photos of this ranchita.

Some pictures around the place. My spot, with Kathleen’s place in the distance, the dogs running up the road, some of the yard decor and in the last picture, a view of Stella taken from the deck while the sun sets.
